From the bottom of my heart, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the tutors who teach the systematic online Tabla classes.

As an 11-year-old, I feel very proud of myself for investing my precious time to learn Tabla and becoming more confident as a solo Tabla player. I concentrate in each module and practice regularly. I can now produce good quality tones on the Tabla through the excellent theory and practical videos, which have helped me trememndously over the last few months. I also really enjoy playing Tabla at different speeds.

I am more confident in playing Dadra and Keherwa taal, not only with different audio/video bhajans and dhuns but also with live music. All the online modules are very easy to understand, practice and perform with. I believe this instrument gives me peace and relaxes my mind.

To conclude, a hearty thanks to the Academy of India Arts for enhancing my cultural development in a friendly, digital environment during the global pandemic situation. I recommend to all the age groups of music lovers whoever want to learn Tabla this is the right place for all.

This course has definitely enhanced my sons’ theoretical and practical understanding in tabla. They have showed that they have found the modules extremely useful and have stated that it has given them an opportunity to further develop their knowledge of how you can use different taals, rhythms, and variations to play many bhajans.

My sons and I are both extremely grateful for this course, and would definitely recommend it to beginners who would like to strengthen their skills on the pragmatic side of tabla.

It has been my passion from my childhood to learn a musical instrument close to my family history. I enrolled on this online course due to the complete lockdown during the pandemic and I decided to focus my attention to music and learn a new art.

It is well laid out with demonstrations to follow and teaches the art of playing with bhajans. The course is designed to follow at your own pace and practice sessions to improve hand and finger coordination. The tutors are well experienced and share their knowledge in good detail.

I’m excited to progress to the end of this course and one day play to further my learned talent with bhajans.

I would recommend everyone to try this course as a beginner created by the Academy of Indian Arts.

Firstly, I would like to take the opportunity to thank the team for putting on these classes. It is truly a great initiative to get people young or old to learn something new and different!

The classes are clearly very well thought out, impressive, feel very professional and also really enjoyable with all the small quizzes and other activities. The online platform also adds to the online learning experience and it is good to have each class broken down into sections, so that we are able to just practice the exercise and other concepts. As for the classes for myself, a complete beginner in instrument playing, I found the classes to be of moderate difficulty and it was easy to understand and follow the exercises. I also like the traffic light system and how there is a sense of progression in ability after completing each class.

Thanks again for creating this online learning course! 🙂

This tabla course has paved a great path for our 7-year-old daughter to both learn and appreciate our traditional instruments. She has enjoyed every part of the course and is able to login herself and begin her daily practice.

She was recently selected to take her tabla into school for her alloted ‘Show & Tell’. She was very excited to do this She demonstrated what she had learnt and took printouts to share with her class. She played the kervo taal in both original and variation formats for her class and really enjoyed the unique experience.

To keep up with the progressive momentum of the course I have seen my daughter develop her skills in reading and understanding traditional music in only a few weeks. As a parent I really look forward to seeing this new skill develop.

“I have had about 4 years of face-to-face tabla learning but eventually I gave up as I felt I wasn’t
getting anywhere and began losing interest, until I came across this course. I have now completed 2
modules and find it easy to follow as it has clear instructions supplemented by demonstrations and exercises to help practice. It also shows you how each taal is incorporated through simple bhajans
which increases our confidence.
In my opinion, this is the best online course as you can do it in your own time and at your own space.
I would recommend it to any beginners who simply just want to play with bhajans.”

“I had no prior knowledge of tabla and this is the first time I tried learning to play tabla. In my experience, I found the tabla classes extremely useful. The content of the class is very good and concise, with gradual progression at each level. The music notes provided are also very good for daily practices. I am surprised to see that within such a short time of 3 months I can very well recognise and play bols, and at a basic level, also play Taal Kervo with Dhun! I would certainly recommend this course for those who wish to learn tabla.”

“The tabla course has been fantastic. The videos are very clear to follow and the pace is just right. It makes you work hard. The online portal is excellent. The fact that we have audio tracks to listen to for each exercise and accompanying videos which contain the relevant exercises is particularly helpful and we can watch them repeatedly to ensure we are playing correctly.
I felt as if I had progressed immensely in just the first few weeks! From not being able to play any taals, to now learning one of the key taals, which we use for a lot of our bhajans, is fantastic and I am looking forward to the rest of the course.”

“The course is really well structured. I like how the background theory and terminology of the tablas is explained. I also like the fact that the key focus is on the taals most relevant to our bhajans, but the context in which the other taals are used is also mentioned.
I feel like I have got used to all the basic bols so far.”

“Since first hearing about the tabla classes the excitement in our family was ignited and after watching the first two videos we were hooked. Initially, I was thinking can you really learn an instrument by watching videos online and more importantly would it keep us engaged over a long period of time. But, many of my misconceptions have been proved wrong. This course has been a godsend!”

Tejas Gandhi

“Learning an instrument online for the first time has been a novel experience. Despite not having the face-to-face contact, learning this way has been advantageous as you can learn at your own pace and go back over the parts you find difficult. The weekly classes are enjoying and boost your confidence as you reach small milestones every week.”

“I am thoroughly enjoying the course!! It is so easy to follow and the flexibility of learning at my own pace online has been great. The way the practical aspect is taught using the videos makes it simple, and all the class notes are well thought out and detailed. I feel as though I have already learnt so much! The pace of the course is also great. I am looking forward to developing my skills as the weeks go on.”

 Yagnesh Depala

“Being a novice to this particular instrument, I decided this was the opportunity to try and learn something I felt I had missed the boat within my youth. However, having taken on the classes, I have thoroughly enjoyed them. The pace of teaching is perfect for and being online also allows me to do it at my own pace and in my own time. The key, as is made clear, is practice.”

Hiren Patel

“Don’t be mistaken by the word ‘Beginners’. This online tabla course is very thoroughly detailed and very well formatted.

I feel if you were to attend this course elsewhere you would be paying much more per class! To foresee in advance, for 2 years, what kind of content is needed and to be able to list what will be covered, is very impressive.”
